Valentine's Day and outdoor fun!

Our day started out with the normal routine: Morning Centers, Daily Oral Language, Calendar Time, GYM CLASS!, Bathroom and Fruit break.

All the while, Mrs. Lehman made us wait patiently with our "goodie" bag shaped hearts sitting before us.
Then we played "Mathematicians" with candy conversation hearts!  We estimated, grouped, added and graphed our bag of candy hearts by colors.
Our findings found that Orange, Green and Purple were nearly tied (with 28, 29, 30 respectively) for the most!
Then we got to EAT them (well, 5 of them).

 Carnations were special delivered!
For our lunch time movie we got to eat POPCORN!
 Thank you, Room Moms!!

After we were finally allowed to open all of our Valentines from our friends (and said a big "THANK YOU" to everyone for them), we went outside to play in the nice-for-February weather.

What a WONDERFUL Valentine's Day!

Learn to Serve. . . Learn to be Served.

Learn-to-Serve is an amazing program at Shalom, which allows my 2nd grade students to be mentored by another student from the junior Bible class.  My students admire and look-up to these young adult students with such innocent hearts.  In serving one another we are learning to understand our fellow Christians from all ages!  As a teacher, I enjoy watching older students tutor, encourage, and befriend the children in my class.

 Thank you!!!
Juniors, you are making a difference for the Kingdom.

A Day of Celebration!

Today was a bitter-sweet day as we celebrated our class reward of Crazy Hair and Dress Down Day, Sparkle Award lunch with Mrs. Kniss, and finally a farewell party for our friend and classmate of the past 3 years.  We shared cupcakes, chips, and juice.  Our friend opened gifts: a Shalom Frenzy T-shirt, a blue/white basketball with our signatures, and a bag full with letters of appreciation.  We wish him well and God's blessings as he and his family transition to a new home, new school, new town, new country and new language!
First, the ladies. . . and their crazy hair.

And now the Gents. . . .

Ah. . hem, I said "Gentlemen!?!"
